Once a cavity has developed, there isn’t much we can do other than repair the tooth. Rather than simply fixing dental problems as they pop up, we prefer to take a more proactive approach based on strong prevention. This ensures that cavities, along with decay, gum disease, and missing teeth, don’t occur in the first place.

A checkup involves your dentist performing a visual exam as well as looking at X-rays to find the early signs of potential issues. These include not just everyday maladies like cavities, but also more serious diseases such as oral cancer. By staying ahead of them, our team can provide early, conservative treatment before you experience any real damage or pain. Also, to keep your smile looking great and feeling healthy, a hygienist will systematically remove all the built-up plaque and tartar in your mouth that your brush and floss can’t handle at home.

Do you know what is the most common cause of broken and knocked-out teeth? Sports-related injuries. That’s why we recommend always wearing a mouthguard when stepping onto the court, mat, or field. Instead of wearing a generic appliance from the store that feels awkward and messes with your breathing, we can give you a custom one designed just for you. The fit will be more comfortable, plus it will better defend your teeth from unexpected (or expected!) impacts.

When you wake up in the morning, are you usually greeted by a headache? Have your teeth been worn down to the point where they look flat, cracked, or are quite sensitive? All of the signs stem from someone grinding their teeth while they sleep. For the sake of your rest (and oral health), we can provide you with a custom-made mouthpiece to wear to bed that will prevent the grinding from happening.

Our dentists are not only able to treat individual teeth but help with overall bite problems as well. Your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is your main jaw joint, and like others in the body, it can become strained or injured, leading to persistent pain and stiffness. We can adjust and rebalance the bite to take pressure off the TMJ as well as provide you with a mouthpiece to wear to bed that will help your jaw learn to stay in a more relaxed position throughout the day, leading to lasting relief.
